Tibetan RugsTibetan Rugs are made in the Kingdom of Nepal. Originally they were made with Chinese influence or related to Buddhism. I recall back in the early 1990's when Tibetan rugs started being produced in non-traditional Tibetan designs and colors for the American market. They started using modern and decorative designs and colors that were an instant hit with American designers and customers. Today, Tibetan rugs are selling very well. The rugs are made in 60-100 knot qualities using fine quality Tibetan wools. Rugs made in 100 knot quality also are available in wool and silk blends. Silk ranges in Tibetan Rugs from 10-40 percent, with the balance of the pile made with wool. Most Tibetan foundations are made with cotton. The price of the rug is higher when silk is included in the construction. Alex Cooper offers Tibetan Rugs designed by Tamarian Carpets. We offer a wonderful selection of their collections in our online store. Tibetan Rugs can be special ordered in many sizes and color options. Area Rugs - Countries of Origin |
